Room 101

In 1996, a small group of individuals signed up to join a faux organization described as “an international organization synonymous with the NWO.” The group established a lateral hierarchy broken into Charges, each with distinct ruling heads. By 1997, the organization evolved into a loose social club whose Charges were traded in for Departments. By winter, mendax.org had formal chapters throughout the country, and mendax.org finally gained international status when a chapter was opened in Canada.

The founders of mendax.org planned to mold the organization into a non-collegiate fraternity, whose membership, chiefly in the high-tech industry, would be able to start, manage, and influence a variety of projects. While these efforts saw some success, the social club never grew far from its initial influences, and was ultimately disbanded sometime in 1998 or 1999. The infrastructure it left behind, to include the web site and e-zine, lived on.

mendax.org was chiefly administered by one William Thorin, aka “WyldKard”. While mendax.org had numerous guest authors in the past, the majority of its content was submitted by WyldKard, who officially rebranded the site in 2009, 13 years after its debut.

Today, content at WyldKard’s site reflects his namesake, and is not generally focused on any single specific topic or element.
