Free Sidekick games.

While I’ve checked out the catalog of available games for the Sidekick series of cellular phones, I’ve held off on buying any thus far. However, two easter eggs hit my radar today, which give me a small bit of gaming joy for when I’m otherwise bored and need a quick attention-grab.

The first is a simple side-scrolling snowboard game where the player presses a button to move a snowboarding sprite up. Without pressing this button, the sprite falls to the bottom; the player needs to keep the sprite within the upper and lower bounds, while dodging trees along the way. The game is accessed by pressing the menu button, going to the “About Sidekick” screen, then pressing and releasing the menu button, the shift key, and ‘8′ all at the same time.

The second game is a lemonade stand game ala the one we all remember playing on our old Apple computers back in the day. This easter egg is actually part of Money Clip, a program one can buy for the Sidekick to help handle one’s personal finances. From the help screen, press the following on-screen buttons: Prev, Prev, Next, Next, Next, Prev, Next, Prev, Next, Done.
