Who needs newsgroups or FTP sites when all you *really* need is an iPod? It seems that a misguided youth has found that hooking one’s iPod into any Mac via its Firewire connection makes it dead simple to fill up the 5GB of space provided by its hard drive with pretty much whatever you want – except of course unlicensed music, which as we all know is far worse than software piracy.
Shoplifting Mac software from underneath a retailer’s nose could be as easy as standing around a demo iMac or G4 Tower for a few minutes trying to look inconspicuous while you drag and drop your software of choice to one’s iPod. This of course is assuming those responsible for administering the Macs in question haven’t protected their files with any sort of passwords.
I fear Macintosh software sales may plummet once the remaining 14 Mac users (of which I hear 6 have bought iPod’s) hear about this development.
